Q. Do you hold spots? For how long? What is the process?
A. Yes, we hold spots for up to two months. A non-refundable deposit of one month’s tuition and completed enrollment forms must be received before a spot can be held. For periods longer than two months, you will be placed on our pending list and contacted as you approach the two-month period. Special arrangement can be made for newborns, please see our Director to schedule an appointment. 

Q. What is your sick policy?
A. If a child is:

  • Too ill to participate in activities
  • Has a temperature of 100 degrees or higher in combination with other signs of illness
  • Is vomiting
  • Has 2 or more runny, watery, or loose stools
  • An unexplained rash
  • Skin patches or unusual spots
  • Crusty and/or runny nose
  • Severe coughing
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Yellowish skin or eyes
  • Unusually dark urine or gray or white stools
  • Stiff neck with elevated temperature
  • Evidence of untreated lice
  • Scabies or other parasitic infestation
  • Sore throat or difficulty swallowing

…he or she will be sent home from the Center and not permitted to return until he or she is symptom free for 24 hours. Students with common cold symptoms (clear runny nose, slight cough, sneezing) will be permitted to attend the Center, however, if symptoms persist or worsen the child will be sent home. The Director reserves the right to require the treating physician’s authorization for a return to school in some circumstances.

Q. What days are you closed throughout the year?
A.  New Adventures strives to meet the needs of working parents. One way we do this is by limiting the number of “holidays” that we are closed, which are the six major ones listed below. Because we are closed fewer holidays (many Centers close for ten or more a year) you essentially receive a free week of attendance over the course of a year when compared to our competition.

  • Fourth of July
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

Q. Do we still have to pay if our child does not attend the Center for a day due to illness or vacation?
A. Yes, because we must prepare and staff ourselves each day with the expectation that your student will be in attendance. After one year of continuous enrollment, each full-time student is granted five “Courtesy Days” that may be used in place of scheduled days of absence. Part-time students also qualify and receive the number of days off equal to their average annual weekly attendance. 

Q. How often are toys sanitized?
A.
Toys are sanitized daily and more frequently in the infant and toddler rooms where they are used more often.

Q. Is infant care individualized?
A.
Yes, infant care is based on the needs of the child. Parents are asked to fill out a basic infant care sheet and bring it with the infant on their first day at the Center. This sheet maps out feeding and napping schedules for the child as well as any special needs they may have. Once the child is older and eating regular food, lunch is served at 11:30.

Q. Does the preschool curriculum prepare the children for school?
A.
Yes, our curriculum is age and developmentally appropriate for each classroom and exceeds the standards set forth by the State of Ohio. We prepare each student for kindergarten and the years to follow, with special emphasis on math, science, social studies, and language arts. 

Q. Do you use a variety of instructional methods?
A.
Yes, lessons are taught in a variety of settings including whole group, small group, individual, and play-based activities.

Q. How long has your facility been open?
A.
We opened our doors in February 2007.

Q. How many meals are included in the day?
A. 
Our meals include a breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack that is provided daily through Innovation Foods Catering Services. Our meals are professionally prepared in conjunction with our consulting dietician to provide food that is high in nutritional value, yet geared toward the general likes and dislikes of children. Our breakfast is served around 8:30 am – 9:00 am, lunch is from 11:30 am – 12:00 pm, and afternoon snack is 3:00 pm – 3:30 pm.  If your child arrives early in the morning and has not eaten before arrival we suggest that he or she brings a small snack from home to tide them over until breakfast time.

Q. What types of training do your teachers have?
A. At New Adventures it is our goal, in terms of staff, to blend the intrinsic values of both education and experience to create the most complete and comprehensive classroom experience for our students. In conjunction with the State of Ohio’s Step Up To Quality program, all New Adventures staff members receive a minimum of 15 hours in-service training per year and professional development opportunities. Our staff is also thoroughly trained on how to administer first aid, CPR and how to handle communicable disease situations.
